 Flame failure safety explanation:

The Premier+ Gas is equipped with a thermocouple (TC) and an electromagnetic valve (EMV). When the TC is heated by the flame, it generates a small electrical current that keeps the EMV open. If the flame is extinguished while the gas supply is still on, the thermocouple cools down, the electrical output drops, and the EMV automatically closes, shutting off the gas supply. This is why, during ignition, the control knob must be held in. Doing so keeps the EMV open until the flame has sufficiently heated the thermocouple.
